The Sounds of India introduces the viewer to myriad of revererations from the ubran as well as rural corners of India. The artwork is constanty changing shape as I make routine couple of trips to India to visit my family. On my way back, I bring a piece of India with me and share with you with an addition of artistic touch. The short documentary films are a concoction of audio and visual serendipity. Sound has remained fundamental form of communication for Earthlings across many generations, ideologies, geographies and demographics. Sound defines, animates and enlarges the physical experience of a living soul. Physics defines sound as an energy form created by vibrational movements and continuous exchange of energy between air molecules. In the modern era, acoustic as well as visual identity of India has been portraited as that of a state in perpetual chaos and disorder. Having lived in multiple countries over the course of last decade, I always had longing for home and eventually I realized: I miss those familiar chaotic sounds! The audio-visual artwork, Eavesdropping: Sounds of India, underlines, invites, evokes and embarks on an tangible auditory experience aiming to challenge and change this vaguely held worldview of Indian culture. And, hopefully change hearts and minds by using the power of simple audio datasets collected on recent voyages to my homeland embodied by the generative visual effects.
